Relishing sweet Green Moong dal dumpling
Ingredients
- Green Moong -1/4 cup
- Jaggery powder- 3/4 cup
- Coconut grated1-/2 cup
- Cardamom- 2
- Anil Kozhukattai flour– 3/4 cup
- Salt- as the need
- Sesame oil or ghee- 2 Tsp
- Water
Preparation
- Wash and soak the green Moong overnight
- Drain the water and pressure cook with 3/4 cup of water for 4 whistles
- Mash the cooked Moong well in a heavy bottomed pan
- Heat the mashed Moong with Jaggery
- As the Jaggery melts to a watery consistency
- Add grated coconut and cardamom, keep cooking
- When it becomes thick switch off the flame
- Cool down and make perfect sized balls
Dough preparation
- In a bowl Mix kozhukattai, salt, oil, and water
- Boil water and add flour to that
- Cook till it reaches a batter consistency
- Allow it to get warm
- When it’s warm knead the dough
- Divide into equal perfect ball sizes
- Grease your hands with sesame oil and place the dough and sweet dumplings inside the mould to get a perfect Modaks outer shell shape.
- Steam cook for 8mins
- Enjoy hot soft whiter relishing green Moong Anil Kozhukattai.
